Art Residency Experience
The Art Residency Experience is a new opportunity for artists and audiences to engage in regional Australia. Through our extensive networks we can ensure artists and other creatives are able to take advantage of the benefits of our region and interact with our local community and its unique environment. Guests stay in the Treehouse and may access studio space as required. Bespoke tuition and workshops can also be arranged.
The program hosts national and international artists, curators, writers and creatives involving innovative interactions and exchanges with audiences and our own community. We thrive on developing and strengthening meaningful and immersive cultural experiences.
Dubbo is located in the heart of the Western Plains of New South Wales and Wiradjuri Country. It is halfway to the Outback from Sydney, serviced by road, air and rail.
Our vision is to be an inspiring experience destination, that delivers authentic, quality cultural, social and environmentally responsible services and experiences.
The residency is supported by Fishdog cultural enterprise. Artists Jack Randell and Kerry Palmer have established collaborative links with local and global organisations through their own residency experiences. Fishdog operates in the creative industries across training, public art, business and community cultural development and most recently established ArtClubDub to deliver creative learning for all ages.
We value our local connections with Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Western Plains Cultural Centre, Orana Arts and Charles Sturt University. The residency joins a growing worldwide network of creative residencies that exist in over 60 countries offering innovators the opportunity to explore, create and collaborate in inspiring and energising new contexts. We accept proposals for long stays (up to six weeks) or short-term (one to two days). The “Treehouse” is pretty awesome - even we love staying in it!
